You don’t need the game to start/help translating, but we can’t imagine you understanding what line means what without playing the game first. Plus it will be hard to test your creation. But sure, go ahead.
It’s really similar to a normal txt file, so a lot of software can support it. Windows Notepad should be enough, but here are better options:

- Visual Studio Code
- Atom
- Literally anything else. A toaster.

Be sure to follow instructions here, then save all files. Open the game, and go to Main Menu -> Options menu and click Language until you see your own language.
No, you don’t. You can just click Language option in the Options Menu a few times – this will reload your newly saved files and you should see your translated text in the game.
No, you don’t, and yes, there is a better way to reload your translation! When you open the game for the first time, press F11 on your keyboard. This will enable Debug Buttons. Now each time (from any puzzle/menu in the game) you press F2 – you will reload your localization files, which should pick up all saved changes.
NOTE: This is not gonna work on the text that is already on the screen. You need to do at least one transition (from puzzle to menu, from puzzle to puzzle, etc.) for the lines to change.
No, you don’t. They are there to explain something for you and aren’t visible in the game.
No, please don’t translate them. Usually next to such marker you will see a comment explaining what it does and how to use in the text.
NOTE: Some markers work only in specific puzzles, so it’s not guaranteed they will work in other places in the game.
Come up with your own joke! Localization isn’t about translating word to word from English – it’s about adapting the text to your language, even if it means changing or even removing the joke.

Our font supports only a limited amount of languages and it is hard to expand it for EVERY language there is. But to solve this problem we implemented a feature, that switches and scales the ingame font to make it look nicer. How to enable this feature:
- Locate Texts.xml file in your language’s folder.
- On the top of the file you will see a line:
<TextContainer xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
- Replace it with this line:
<TextContainer xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" UsePCFont="true">
- Note that a UsePCFont parameter has been added. Setting it to true will enable different Font in the game, and scale all text appropriately. Switching it back to false (or removing) will switch Font back to its original look.
- Reopen the game to see changes.
NOTE: DO NOT add this parameter to Awards and Voices. ONLY Texts.xml should have this parameter.
NOTE: This parameter works ONLY for your language, and will not affect the original EN or other languages you have in the Localization folder.
NOTE: After adding this parameter you can share your files with others, and they will see switched and scaled Font already. No need for them to change Texts.xml file on their computer.
In some cases the game looks on the length of the subtitles and decides for how long to show this line. If your language (e.g. Chinese) has short phrases but needs to be shown longer, you need to adjust timing:
- Locate Voices.xml file in your language’s folder.
- On the top of the file you will see a line:

- Replace it with this line:

- Note that TimeToShowSubtitles parameter has been added. You can change the number to anything that feels right for your language (For example 1 means normal speed. And 5 means that some subtitles will stay on the screen 5 times longer)
- Reopen the game to see changes.
